The Garden interns learn and gain hands-on experience from the museum's gardener, Ruth Green. Interns and Ruth work together on the museum's flower and vegetable gardens throughout the summer. Garden interns receive payment for this summer-long internship.

    The Bidwell House Museum offers a History Fellowship to a recent college graduate during the summer. The Fellow lives onsite in a small apartment and acts as the head docent of museum tours. The Fellowship allows for hands-on experience in visitor services, intern management, and museum operations. This is a great opportunity for a new museum professional or recent graduate.

Young History Scholar Interns are immersed in local history and gain valuable skills in public speaking, research, and non-profit operations.

  • Kids Kitchen on the Go

    Designed for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years old, alongside their caregivers, our weekly Kids Kitchen nutrition education groups aim to keep children and families as healthy as possible. Focusing on healthy food choices for every day, children and their caregivers will learn about nutritious foods and healthy eating habits, and then will engage in a hands-on learning opportunity to prepare a healthful recipe together. Kids Kitchen on the Go will provide families with healthy foods to take home, giving them the tools and resources necessary to prepare healthy foods and develop healthy eating habits.

  • WAM Theatre Girls Ensemble Stipends

    Based in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, WAM Theatre is Where Arts and Activism Meet. WAM’s vision is to create opportunity for women and girls through the mission of theatre as philanthropy. In addition to the main stage productions and special events, WAM Theatre’s activities include the Fresh Takes Play Reading Series and a comprehensive educational outreach program. WAM Theatre Girls Ensemble is an education program for girls aged 13-18. The main goal of Girls Ensemble is to provide a safe place for the participants (many of whom are living at or below the poverty level) to explore the concerns that influence their daily lives and to empower them to make informed, sound decisions that will influence the course of their entire lives. Each year, the ensemble creates an original performance using devised theatre methods. Devised theatre is a collaborative process where an ensemble uses a variety of techniques– writing, improvisation, games, movement, brainstorming, and more– to create original performance material. The Girls Ensemble program culminates with a performance of the piece they created, with full production values, for a public audience. Opportunity and access for our participants is a challenge. They may not come from a family that can afford any tuition for the program. WAM works hard to raise the necessary funding so that the program can be subsidized. As some of our potential participants also have their own jobs, WAM's goal is that Girls Ensemble is also a stipended opportunity for the participants.

  • Flying Cloud Institute: Girls Science Club

    Sponsor a Girls Science Club at a local public school! Flying Cloud Institute runs 10-week programs for girls in grades 3-5 who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) at no cost to families or school districts. But we can't keep up with the demand for our after school clubs and want every girl in the county to have access to these life-changing programs! Help us bring dynamic STEAM experiences to the young women in your community-- you will ignite their curiosity and creativity for a lifetime! We can run a club for $2,500 that serves 10-20 elementary school girls and 4-6 high school mentors. Please consider a gift today!
